Casa Mariposa is a family owned rustic guesthouse located
in the
mountains with breathtaking views in San Gerardo de Rivas.
The Hostel
We offer 5 comfortable rooms with orthopedic mattresses and cozy comforters, as well as a backpackers dormitorio.
We offer a community kitchen where you can cook your own meals (and save a little money by not eating out!)
There is a small grocery next door, as well as a restaurant if you don't want to cook for yourself.
You can relax in our 3 sitting areas: In the comfortable living area, down by the creek next to a dripping waterfall,
or at the treetop-view gazebo, where highland species birdwatching is excellent.
We have trails right out the back door that lead to the Chirripó River!

How to get there
By car: (4 wheel drive recommended)

Going south on the Inter-Americana from San Isidro del General, turn left after the Maxi Bodega (about a kilometer from downtown). Continue to
San Gerardo de Rivas (about 21 Km). In San Gerardo, go past the church 1 kilometer up towards the entrance to the park. We are the last hotel
in San Gerardo [ see Map], the closest to the park.
By bus:
From the Mercado Central in San Isidro, take the San Gerardo de Rivas bus at 5.00 A.M.
or 2.00 P.M. (there is a bus only twice a day). If you plan to hike Chirripó, get off the bus at the park office to buy tickets. Otherwise,
get off at the last bus stop (at the soccer field). From here you may call us for a ride up, or enjoy the hike up to the park entrance and
Casa Mariposa.
